I just finished creating a mixed media sculpture at the ever exciting Canadian Stone Carving Festival
over the July 21st weekend. I've taken part in this festival since its beginning year in Winchester, ON.
Next year is the tenth anniversary!
Carving in stone is not my usual medium, but I love the spirit of this festival, and the very worthy
causes it has supported over the years.
What happens? Well, all of the participants are given a piece of limestone, and the weekend to
complete a sculpture using hand tools only. On Sunday afternoon the sculptures were auctioned
off. Thanks to all who came out to support us over the weekend, and an extra thanks to those who
bid on the sculptures. The auction raised over $9,300 which will go to the Ottawa Innercity
Ministries, to fund their youth programs. And to the people who gave my little 'Sheep of Hearts'
a nice new home--enjoy!
I have been exhibiting my multimedia art (which embodies mixed media art) since 2007. My artworks
have been shown at various locations in Ottawa and the surrounding area, including the Britannia Art
Gallery, the Museum of Nature, the Shenkman Arts Centre and the Mississippi Textile Museum. They
range from message-based interactive installations, sculptures and 2-D art, to puppets. I have also
created mixed media art to aid various charitable causes in the Ottawa area. I am a member of
the National Capital Network of Sculptors and Out Of The Box Fibre Artists.

|Dimensions 2018 Sculpture Exhibit is now over. Thanks to all for your kind words, interesting
observations and support!
Dimensions featured over 100 sculptures by various very talented Ottawa Sculptors.
I had five sculptures in Dimensions, two of them interactive and dealing with family and relationships.
It was a great show! See you all next time!
|New Art Exhibition, Coming Up in April 2019:
Fibre Fling 8
The Out of the Box Fibre Artists exhibit at the Stittsville Public Library features
art inspired by a favourite quote. My newest creation, 'High Time For A Cat
Nap', a sleeping cat on a plant, was inspired by the quote ('Cats sleep
anywhere". This quote is from the poem 'Cats' by Eleanor Farjeon (the poet
who also wrote the words in the famous folk song 'Morning Has Broken').
It was an amazing exhibit! Look for 'High Time For A Cat Nap' to be exhibited
again at Fibre Fling 8, in April 2019!
By Eleanor Farjeon
Cats sleep, anywhere,
Any table, any chair
Top of piano, window-ledge,
In the middle, on the edge,
Open drawer, empty shoe,
Anybody's lap will do,
Fitted in a cardboard box,
In the cupboard, with your frocks-
Anywhere! They don't care!
Cats sleep anywhere.
|Please note that my art works are for sale.
